Environmental Advancing and Linking Project

Absrtact
The Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) initiated planning for the establishment of Environmental Science and Technology Parks (ESTPs) in 2002 to upgrade Taiwan’s environmental protection technologies and grasp the global trend of zero waste and carbon reduction. The implementation of this project was to assist the EPA establishing four ESTPs in Taiwan. With regard to the establishment of ESTPs in this year’s project, we have finished the planned work items, including auditing & consulting tasks for the enterprises stationed in the ESTPs, reviewing subsidy plans for qualified enterprises, calling relevant meetings, recruiting quality businesses, establishing communication platform, and enhancing administrative efficiency of the ESTPs. Until November 30, 2010, a total of 99 companies have been approved to be stationed in the ESTPs, the sold areas of land were 47.8 hectares, the expected total investments were NT$19.1 billion, the expected annual production values were NT$34.9 billion, providing 2,876 people in employment, and expected recycled resources were 2.72 million tones. Until now, three indices such as total investments, production values, and job opportunity have been accorded with the objectives set up in 2011. In addition, this project promoted the symbiotic resource-recycling networks around the ESTPs via analyzing internal waste information, calling meetings, and visiting businesses toward the goals of reducing waste, increasing resource recycling and creating recycled products market. Based on the above results, it showed that EPA fostered the development of 4 ESTPs, which had gradually created the perfect balance between economic development and sustainable environment.
